The best HSR follow-up attack team is not simply four characters who attack outside their own turns. A strong team needs a complete engine: a carry who converts repeated attacks into damage, a partner who adds triggers or amplification, a support who improves the whole rotation, and a sustain who protects the team without consuming the Skill Points the engine needs.
Version 4.4 makes the category broader than it was in earlier patches. The classic Feixiao–Robin core now has stronger modern partners such as Ashveil and Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae, while Rin Tohsaka–Archer and Gilgamesh–Saber introduce Joint Follow-Up ATKs with their own Skill Point, Energy and speed-tuning rules. These teams should be compared as separate engines rather than forced into one universal four-character template.
This guide ranks the most practical premium, low-cost and F2P follow-up teams, explains substitutions, gives rotations and pull priorities, and separates traditional Follow-Up ATK, Joint Follow-Up ATK, Elation DMG and adjacent “support attack” mechanics. Recommendations assume E0 characters unless a higher Eidolon is explicitly mentioned.
🚀 Quick Answer
The strongest current traditional premium follow-up team is Feixiao + Ashveil + Robin + Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae. Ashveil is Feixiao’s highest-synergy sub-DPS and amplifier, Robin accelerates the entire attack engine, and Permansor Terrae adds shields, ATK support and another follow-up source.
The best Version 4.4 Joint Follow-Up cores are Archer + Rin Tohsaka for a Skill Point-driven Quantum engine and Saber + Gilgamesh for an Ultimate- and Energy-driven dual-DPS engine. They are powerful, but each pair is far less interchangeable than the classic Feixiao shell.
For lower-cost accounts, use Feixiao + March 7th (The Hunt) or Moze + Robin or a general support + Gallagher. Without Feixiao, March 7th (The Hunt) + Moze + Pela/Asta + Gallagher is the most accessible purpose-built FuA team. In Pure Fiction, Himeko + Herta or Jade + Herta remains the easiest wave-clearing route.

⚙️ What Counts as a Follow-Up Attack Team in HSR?
A Follow-Up ATK is an attack that the game explicitly identifies as a follow-up attack and triggers after a condition is met. The trigger may be an ally attack, an enemy attack, a marked target, a Weakness Break, an HP threshold, a summon action or a linked pair condition. The label matters because Follow-Up ATK DMG bonuses, relic passives and character debuffs only apply when the live skill description recognizes the damage as a Follow-Up ATK.
| Family | Typical Trigger | Examples | Best Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Attack-count FuA | Allies attack repeatedly or consume charges | Feixiao, Ashveil, March 7th (The Hunt), Moze | MoC, Apocalyptic Shadow, durable elites |
| Target-mark FuA | A marked enemy is attacked | Topaz & Numby, Moze, Dr. Ratio | Single-target and elite focus |
| Counter FuA | The carry or an ally is attacked | Yunli, Clara | Aggressive bosses and enemy-heavy waves |
| Break / threshold FuA | Enemies break or fall below an HP threshold | Himeko, Herta | Pure Fiction and farming |
| Joint Follow-Up ATK | A specific paired-character condition is completed | Archer + Rin Tohsaka; Saber + Gilgamesh | Pair-specific Version 4.4 teams |
| Hybrid FuA | A nontraditional Skill or Ultimate is classified as FuA | Mortenax Blade’s extra Skill; higher-Eidolon conversions | Specialized premium shells |
For a wider explanation of Paths, roles and combat labels, see the HSR Paths and elements guide. A character’s Path does not automatically define the damage archetype used by the team.
🎭 Traditional FuA vs Joint FuA vs Elation vs Support Attacks
| Mechanic | What It Means | Can You Assume FuA Buffs Apply? |
|---|---|---|
| Follow-Up ATK | The attack is explicitly tagged as a follow-up attack. | Yes, unless the effect has another restriction. |
| Joint Follow-Up ATK | Two named characters launch a linked attack after a pair condition. | Yes when the attack is explicitly tagged as Joint Follow-Up ATK. |
| Elation DMG | A separate Version 4.x damage system built around Punchline, Aha Instants and Elation Skills. | No. Elation DMG is not automatically Follow-Up ATK DMG. |
| Additional DMG | A secondary damage instance attached to another action. | No, unless the kit specifically converts or tags it. |
| Support / Assist attack | An ally calls another unit, companion or mech to attack. | Not automatically. Read the live ability tag. |
| Memosprite / summon action | A separate summoned entity acts or attacks. | Not automatically. Summon and FuA categories can overlap, but are not identical. |
Practical rule
Read the exact damage tag in the live skill description. An impressive animation occurring outside the normal turn order does not, by itself, make the damage a Follow-Up ATK.
🏆 Best HSR Follow-Up Attack Teams at a Glance
The rankings below prioritize complete-team performance, replacement flexibility, realistic E0 investment and usefulness across endgame modes. A stage buff or enemy weakness can move a specialized team above a generally stronger one.
| Tier / Engine | Recommended Team | Best Use | Main Limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| S — Current Traditional Premium | Feixiao + Ashveil + Robin + Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae | MoC, AS, durable elites and bosses | Three premium partners and dual-DPS gearing |
| S — 4.4 Joint SP Engine | Archer + Rin Tohsaka + Sparkle or SP/action support + sustain | Single-target with strong AoE spillover | Pair dependency, SPD tuning and SP planning |
| S — 4.4 Joint Energy Engine | Saber + Gilgamesh + Sunday/Robin/Tribbie + Huohuo | Bosses, blast/AoE and Ultimate-heavy fights | High Energy complexity and expensive ideal shell |
| A+ — Classic Premium | Feixiao + Topaz & Numby + Robin + Aventurine | Reliable single-target FuA play | Lower ceiling than the newer Ashveil/Permansor core |
| A+ — Mortenax Hybrid | Feixiao or Ashveil + Mortenax Blade + amplifier + sustain | Frequent-attack teams and hybrid debuff shells | Mortenax’s E2 changes the archetype significantly |
| A+ — Pure Fiction | Jade + Herta/Himeko + Robin/Tribbie + sustain | Wave scoring and repeated AoE triggers | Less efficient into one durable target |
| A — Counter | Yunli + Robin/Tingyun + flex + Huohuo/Lynx | Enemies that attack frequently | Enemy behavior controls trigger frequency |
| A — Budget | March 7th (The Hunt) + Moze + Pela/Asta + Gallagher | Low-cost progression and early endgame | Lower ceiling and more dependence on relic quality |

🌪️ Best Current Premium Follow-Up Team: Feixiao, Ashveil, Robin and Permansor Terrae
Recommended team: Feixiao + Ashveil + Robin + Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae
This is the strongest modern version of the traditional attack-count FuA engine. Feixiao and Ashveil feed each other with frequent attacks, Ashveil adds DEF reduction and follow-up amplification, Robin converts the team’s high action count into buffs and another full rotation, and Permansor Terrae protects the team while adding ATK support and Souldragon follow-ups.
| Character | Role | Why the Slot Works |
|---|---|---|
| Feixiao | Main DPS | Turns allied attack frequency into Flying Aureus and high single-target Ultimate damage. |
| Ashveil | FuA sub-DPS / amplifier | Launches repeated follow-ups, reduces enemy DEF and directly rewards Feixiao’s high attack count. |
| Robin | Teamwide amplifier | Buffs both damage dealers, adds damage during Concerto and advances the whole team. |
| Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae | Sustain / offensive enabler | Provides shields, ATK support, Skill Point-friendly turns and Souldragon follow-ups. |
🔄 Feixiao–Ashveil Premium Rotation
- Establish Ashveil’s priority target or Bait on the boss or elite that will survive through the damage window.
- Use Permansor Terrae’s Skill on the intended Bondmate, normally the main damage dealer who benefits most from his offensive support.
- Use Feixiao’s Skill consistently so her action and Talent follow-up help consume Ashveil’s charges and build Flying Aureus.
- Let the first wave of allied actions occur before Robin’s Ultimate whenever cycle timing allows.
- Activate Robin’s Ultimate to create a second team sequence, accelerate both FuA engines and refill Feixiao’s Ultimate access.
- Spend Feixiao’s Ultimate while Ashveil’s debuffs and Robin’s buffs are active rather than holding it through a target transition.
- Reapply the priority target immediately after a wave change if the previous target disappears.

✅ Strengths and Weaknesses
| Strengths | Weaknesses |
|---|---|
| Extremely high attack frequency | Multiple limited characters and two damage builds |
| Strong single-target pressure with useful secondary damage | Target setup loses value when enemies die too quickly |
| Sustain contributes offense instead of stopping the chain | Robin Ultimate and target timing still require manual awareness |
| Good Skill Point economy after the opening setup | Not the default best choice for wide Pure Fiction waves |
| Modern debuff and FuA amplification from Ashveil | Roster overlap can be high because Robin and Permansor Terrae are valuable elsewhere |
🪙 Is the Classic Topaz–Aventurine Team Still Good?
Yes. Feixiao + Topaz & Numby + Robin + Aventurine remains a coherent premium team and is often easier to play for accounts that already own the full core. Topaz supplies targeted Follow-Up ATK vulnerability and Numby actions, while Aventurine offers excellent defensive comfort and more native FuA triggers.
The difference is priority: a new player building from zero in Version 4.4 should not automatically treat Topaz and Aventurine as the only premium upgrades. Ashveil is now the stronger Feixiao partner for the modern ceiling, and Permansor Terrae can provide more offensive value in ATK-scaling FuA teams. Existing owners do not need to replace a team that already clears comfortably.
Account-value tip
Do not rebuild an entire functioning Feixiao team for a theoretical ceiling increase. Replace a slot only when the new character solves a real bottleneck: damage, survival, Skill Points, target switching or second-team roster pressure.
🧩 Best Substitutes for Feixiao, Ashveil, Robin and Permansor Terrae
Follow-up teams are unusually modular when the replacement preserves the engine’s missing function. Replace the role—not merely the character portrait.
| Missing Slot | Best Substitute | What You Keep | What You Lose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ashveil | Topaz & Numby | FuA amplification, frequent attacks and boss focus | Ashveil’s broader DEF reduction and modern Feixiao synergy |
| Ashveil | March 7th (The Hunt) | Free access, frequent attacks, Shifu utility and strong Feixiao stack generation | Premium debuffs and sub-DPS ceiling |
| Ashveil | Moze | Prey debuff, off-turn attacks and strong elite focus | Comfort when targets die or change quickly |
| Ashveil | Cipher | Damage amplification, flexible target distribution and a recurring follow-up | The most specialized bidirectional FuA engine |
| Robin | Tribbie | Broad amplification and better multi-target contribution | Full-team 100% action advance and Robin’s attack-count loop |
| Robin | Sunday or Bronya | Direct action advance and concentrated Feixiao buffs | Dual-DPS coverage and easier teamwide buffing |
| Robin | Ruan Mei | Reliable team buffs, RES PEN and Break utility | FuA-specific CRIT support and full-party advance |
| Permansor Terrae | Aventurine | Excellent shields, Skill Point-positive turns and native FuA triggers | Bondmate ATK support and Souldragon scaling |
| Permansor Terrae | Gallagher | Low-cost sustain, frequent actions and Skill Point generation | Premium shields and FuA-specific offensive contribution |
| Permansor Terrae | Huohuo | Healing, cleansing and Energy support for Robin | Native FuA frequency and shield comfort |
| Feixiao | Ashveil main DPS or Mortenax hybrid | A functional premium FuA shell using frequent attacks | Feixiao’s Flying Aureus burst identity |
| Feixiao | March 7th (The Hunt) + Moze core | A fully accessible purpose-built FuA template | Premium carry damage and easier endgame thresholds |
For players who already own Feixiao, March 7th (The Hunt) is still more than a temporary placeholder. She creates a clean, fast rotation and can remain useful after the account gains premium supports. Moze is better when a durable priority target gives Prey enough time to complete its full sequence.
For broader support comparisons, see the best HSR support characters guide.

🆕 Version 4.4 Joint Follow-Up Attack Teams
Version 4.4 introduces two pair-locked Joint Follow-Up engines. Their attacks are legitimate Follow-Up ATKs, but their rotations are built around specific partner mechanics. Rin is not a generic replacement for Ashveil or Topaz, and Gilgamesh is not a universal FuA sub-DPS for every carry.
🏹 Archer + Rin Tohsaka Joint Follow-Up Team
Premium shell: Archer + Rin Tohsaka + Sparkle or another Skill Point/action support + Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae or another SP-positive sustain
Rin is the definitive partner for Archer. Their Joint Follow-Up ATK adds AoE coverage to Archer’s single-target Skill chain and restores Skill Points, directly solving one of Archer’s largest team-building constraints. Rin also rewards Skill Point consumption and recovery, so the best third and fourth slots should stabilize SP flow rather than compete with Archer for resources.
| Slot | Priority | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Archer | Main DPS | Consumes large amounts of Skill Points to repeat Skills in one turn. |
| Rin Tohsaka | Joint FuA partner / sub-DPS | Triggers the linked AoE Follow-Up ATK, shares major buffs with Archer and restores SP. |
| Sparkle / SP-action support | Rotation support | Raises the SP ceiling, restores SP and/or advances the carry. |
| SP-positive sustain | Survival | Protects the team without interrupting Archer’s Skill chain. |
- Enter Archer’s damage window with enough Skill Points; do not begin the chain from a nearly empty pool.
- Plan Rin’s turn and Speed so the Joint Follow-Up trigger is available during Archer’s meaningful attack sequence.
- Use SP-recovery Ultimates before Archer’s chain when doing so creates more Skills rather than overcapping.
- Let the Joint Follow-Up restore the team, then decide whether Rin should bank Gem Energy or spend an Enhanced Skill.
- Do not copy a Sparkle rotation into a non-Sparkle team; the SP ceiling and action order change substantially.
Why this team is different
The Archer–Rin team is a Skill Point economy puzzle first and a generic FuA team second. Its performance collapses when the support or sustain consumes resources at the wrong time.
⚔️ Saber + Gilgamesh Joint Follow-Up Team
Premium shell: Saber + Gilgamesh + Sunday, Robin, Tribbie or another compatible amplifier + Huohuo
Gilgamesh is Saber’s dedicated Version 4.4 partner. Their attack tally triggers a powerful Joint Follow-Up ATK, restores a large amount of Energy to Saber and greatly strengthens her next Ultimate. The team’s difficulty is not raw Skill Point cost; it is controlling Energy, action advance and Ultimate timing so Saber does not waste her Mana Burst sequence.
| Character | Role | Key Function |
|---|---|---|
| Saber | Main DPS | Converts Energy and Core Resonance into repeated, high-impact Ultimates. |
| Gilgamesh | Joint FuA partner / dual DPS | Builds the pair tally, buffs high-Energy allies and triggers the linked attack. |
| Sunday / Robin / Tribbie | Amplifier | Adds action, Energy, broad damage amplification or cycle control. |
| Huohuo | Preferred sustain | Percentage-based Energy restoration is especially valuable for the pair’s large Energy pools. |
- Build the pair’s attack tally without prematurely forcing Saber’s key turn.
- Track Saber’s stored Energy and action advance before using Sunday, Robin or Huohuo Ultimates.
- Trigger the Joint Follow-Up before the intended Saber Ultimate window so the restored Energy and multiplier are not wasted.
- Use Gilgamesh as an SP-neutral contributor while the support and sustain manage the Energy sequence.
- Manual play is strongly recommended for difficult content because autoplay can misalign Saber’s advancement.
🔥 Himeko • Nova and Mortenax Blade: Related, but Not the Same Team
Himeko • Nova can call a mech for support attacks and enables frequent team-linked damage, but “support attack” should not automatically be treated as Follow-Up ATK. Include her in a FuA guide only where the live skill tag, relic interaction or teammate kit explicitly connects the attack to Follow-Up ATK mechanics. Her strongest teams may belong to a broader assist-attack archetype instead.
Mortenax Blade is a true hybrid. His Talent-triggered extra Skill is considered a Follow-Up ATK at E0, while E2 makes damaging ally Ultimates count as Follow-Up ATKs and increases FuA damage. That Eidolon materially changes team construction, so E0 and E2 recommendations should never be blended together.
At E0, practical partners include frequent attackers such as Ashveil and Feixiao, a broad amplifier such as Tribbie or Robin, and a sustain that supports his HP or attack-frequency requirements. For personal relics and Light Cones, see the Mortenax Blade build.

🪙 Best F2P and Low-Cost Follow-Up Attack Teams
“F2P” and “low-cost” are not identical. A free-to-play account may own one limited carry after saving Stellar Jade but still rely on free and four-star teammates. The best value route is usually one premium anchor plus inexpensive support, not four low-rarity characters forced into a weak shell.
1. Feixiao + March 7th (The Hunt) + Support + Sustain
Recommended: Feixiao + March 7th (The Hunt) + Robin, Pela, Asta or another amplifier + Gallagher or another sustain
This is the best value Feixiao setup. March is free, attacks frequently, advances her own rotation through Charge and gives Feixiao more attack events. Upgrade the support slot before chasing a luxury sub-DPS if the team already survives.
2. Feixiao + Moze + Support + Sustain
Recommended: Feixiao + Moze + Robin/Pela/Asta + Gallagher/Aventurine
Moze is better than March when a boss or elite survives long enough for Prey to remain active. He is less comfortable in short waves or stages where the marked target disappears before his sequence completes.
3. March 7th (The Hunt) + Moze + Pela or Asta + Gallagher
This is the most accessible purpose-built FuA team without a limited carry. March acts as the primary on-field damage dealer, Moze attacks from off-field, Pela reduces DEF, and Gallagher generates Skill Points while sustaining. Use Asta instead of Pela when Speed and Fire weakness produce more value than DEF reduction.
4. Archer + Rin Tohsaka + Budget Support + Sustain
This is a low-cost core, not a strict free team, because Rin is the required premium partner. Once the pair is owned, the remaining slots can be inexpensive as long as they preserve Skill Points. A fast, SP-positive sustain and a support who restores or conserves SP are more important than forcing another FuA character into the team.
5. Himeko + Herta + Asta + Gallagher
Himeko is a standard-pool character rather than guaranteed free, but the rest of the team is inexpensive. When enemies break and fall below Herta’s threshold, both follow-up talents can chain across waves. This is a Pure Fiction and farming team, not a universal boss team.
6. Clara + Tingyun + Pela + Lynx
Clara is also a standard-pool unit, but her supports are inexpensive. Tingyun supplies Energy and buffs, Pela reduces DEF, and Lynx increases Clara’s aggro while sustaining the team. This route is excellent only when enemies attack frequently enough to feed counters.
| Starting Core | First Upgrade | Second Upgrade | Luxury Upgrade |
|---|---|---|---|
| March + Moze + Pela/Asta + Gallagher | Add Feixiao as main carry | Add Robin or another premium amplifier | Ashveil or premium sustain |
| Feixiao + March + support + sustain | Robin | Permansor Terrae or Aventurine | Ashveil; Topaz for an existing classic core |
| Archer + Rin + budget support + sustain | SP/action support | Premium SP-positive sustain | Vertical investment only after the rotation works |
| Himeko + Herta + Asta + Gallagher | Robin/Tribbie | Jade | Mode-specific vertical investment |
| Clara + Tingyun + Pela + Lynx | Robin or Huohuo | Yunli if you want the premium counter carry | Signature or Eidolon after the team is complete |

🎯 Best Follow-Up Teams for MoC, Pure Fiction and Apocalyptic Shadow
🌀 Memory of Chaos
Best general choices: Feixiao + Ashveil + Robin + Permansor Terrae; Archer + Rin + SP support + sustain; Saber + Gilgamesh + amplifier + Huohuo.
Memory of Chaos rewards cycle control, concentrated damage and clean elite targeting. Feixiao remains excellent when one priority target survives long enough for the full engine. Archer–Rin adds AoE spillover while preserving high single-target pressure. Saber–Gilgamesh is powerful when Energy and action timing are handled manually.
Recheck weakness, target order and turbulence every rotation. A theoretically stronger team can lose to a lower-tier team that matches the stage mechanic.
🧹 Pure Fiction
Best general choices: Jade + Herta/Himeko + Robin/Tribbie + sustain; Himeko + Herta + Asta/Robin + sustain; Archer + Rin when the Joint Follow-Up reliably clears multiple targets.
Pure Fiction values repeated AoE triggers, wave coverage and overkill control. Himeko and Herta remain efficient because their conditions can chain through weak enemies. Jade rewards frequent multi-target attacks. A Feixiao team can clear with investment, but it usually converts fewer actions into total targets hit.
For stage-specific scoring routes, use the Pure Fiction team guide.
🌑 Apocalyptic Shadow
Best general choices: Feixiao premium against attack-count and single-target bosses; Saber + Gilgamesh for suitable Ultimate windows; Yunli/Clara when the boss attacks frequently; the current Joint Follow-Up pair when the node buff rewards its mechanic.
Apocalyptic Shadow is highly matchup-dependent. Toughness, boss downtime, summoned targets and node bonuses can change whether the best FuA team should prioritize repeated attacks, counters, Break assistance or Ultimate timing.

🛡️ Yunli and Clara Counter Follow-Up Teams
Counter teams are genuine follow-up teams, but they use enemy actions as their trigger source. That changes Speed priorities, aggro control and sustain selection. A counter team can look weak against passive enemies and excellent against frequent AoE attacks.
Best Yunli Counter Team
Yunli + Robin or Tingyun + flex amplifier/sub-DPS + Huohuo or Lynx
- Robin is ideal for dual-DPS versions and broad amplification.
- Tingyun is excellent when Ultimate uptime is the main bottleneck.
- Huohuo supports Yunli’s large Energy requirement and provides cleansing.
- Lynx is the lower-cost option when aggro control matters more than premium Energy support.
Best Clara Counter Team
Clara + Robin or Tingyun + Pela or March 7th (The Hunt) + Lynx or Huohuo
Do not overbuild Speed on Clara to copy a generic breakpoint. Improve counter quality, aggro reliability, survivability and support uptime instead.
Counter-team warning
Evaluate the enemy script before judging Yunli or Clara. Low enemy action frequency, long invulnerability phases and crowd control can remove a large part of their damage engine.
📊 Follow-Up Team Build Priorities, Speed and Skill Points
FuA teams often fail because every unit is built as an independent damage dealer. The team needs a functioning order of operations before it needs perfect relic scores.
| Role | Priority | Avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Main FuA DPS | Correct main stats, reliable CRIT, key Traces and enough Speed for the intended rotation | High CRIT DMG with unstable CRIT Rate |
| FuA partner / sub-DPS | Trigger uptime, useful Speed and enough damage to justify the slot | Building so slowly that pair or charge windows are missed |
| Team amplifier | Ultimate uptime, opening order, survivability and full buff coverage | Sacrificing the rotation for unnecessary personal damage |
| Sustain | Reliable survival, then SP generation and offensive utility | Using Skill every turn when shields or healing are already safe |
| Joint FuA specialist | Pair-specific Speed, SP or Energy timing | Copying a classic Feixiao setup into Archer–Rin or Saber–Gilgamesh |
⏱️ Speed Tuning Rules
- Make the mark, debuff or pair-enabling character act before the main damage window.
- Do not copy 134 or 160 Speed without checking the mode, cycle, action advance and external Speed buffs.
- Robin values correct Ultimate timing and Energy uptime more than blindly maximizing personal Speed.
- Rin’s Speed affects how consistently the Archer Joint Follow-Up can be refreshed.
- March 7th (The Hunt) wants a Shifu who acts frequently enough to accelerate Charge.
- Yunli and Clara often prefer offensive stats and aggro reliability over generic Speed stacking.
- Gilgamesh’s fluctuating action frequency makes fixed spreadsheet orders less reliable than real in-combat tracking.
The HSR Speed breakpoints guide explains why a breakpoint only matters when it creates an extra useful action.
🔋 Skill Point Checklist
- Can the sustain Basic ATK most turns after the opening setup?
- Does the sub-DPS need to refresh a mark every wave or only when the target changes?
- Can the support maintain buffs without consuming one Skill Point every turn?
- Will Feixiao still Skill on every intended turn?
- Can Archer begin Circuit Connection with enough SP to complete the desired chain?
- Will Rin’s Joint Follow-Up restore SP before or after the team actually needs it?
- Does Robin’s Concerto period leave the team empty afterward?
- Is a defensive Skill preventing the main carry from using the correct action?
Practical experience rule
A slightly weaker relic build with a clean SP and action rotation usually clears faster than a higher-scored build that forces Feixiao or Archer to Basic ATK at the wrong time.
🎟️ Pull or Save for a Follow-Up Attack Team?
Pull for the missing function in your account—not for the number of follow-up animations in a trailer. Complete one engine before buying its luxury upgrades.
| Your Account | Best Priority | Usually Save | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Feixiao, but no premium sub-DPS | Ashveil for the modern ceiling; March/Moze can bridge | Topaz signature or early Eidolons | The partner slot directly controls attack count, debuffs and team damage. |
| Feixiao + partner, but no Robin | Robin or a verified teamwide amplifier | Luxury sustain signatures | The entire dual-DPS engine benefits from teamwide buffs and action advance. |
| Feixiao core, survival/SP is the problem | Permansor Terrae or Aventurine | Another damage unit | Consistency and SP economy are the actual bottleneck. |
| Classic Topaz–Aventurine core already clears | Save unless Ashveil or Permansor solves a second-team problem | Replacing characters only for a small theoretical gain | Existing investment has real value. |
| Archer owner who wants the 4.4 pair | Rin Tohsaka | Unrelated FuA sub-DPS | Rin is the dedicated pair enabler and SP solution. |
| Saber owner who wants the 4.4 pair | Gilgamesh | Generic FuA partner | Gilgamesh enables the Joint Follow-Up and the major Energy/Ultimate payoff. |
| Low Stellar Jade budget | One E0 core character or required pair partner | Signatures and early Eidolons | A complete four-slot engine beats one overinvested unit. |
| Building Elation | Elation characters for the Elation engine | Traditional FuA units bought only for visual similarity | Elation DMG and FuA use different rules. |
Before spending, check pity and guaranteed status with the HSR pull tracker and pity strategy guide.

💡 Important Follow-Up Light Cones
| Light Cone | Associated Character | Why It Matters | Pull Priority |
|---|---|---|---|
| Before Dawn | Jing Yuan | Historic Erudition option with Follow-Up ATK relevance | Useful, but not a universal first pull |
| Worrisome, Blissful | Topaz & Numby | Improves Topaz and team target-based FuA amplification | Luxury after the team is complete |
| Baptism of Pure Thought | Dr. Ratio | Premium debuff-based Hunt damage | Character and debuff shell first |
| Inherently Unjust Destiny | Aventurine | Raises offensive sustain value | Secondary to owning a reliable sustain |
| Flowing Nightglow | Robin | Improves Energy and support output | Strong, not required for a functioning team |
| Yet Hope Is Priceless | Jade | Premium AoE/FuA option | Best for Jade-focused accounts |
| Dance at Sunset | Yunli | Improves counter gameplay and aggro identity | High personal value, low universal value |
| I Venture Forth to Hunt | Feixiao | Large personal damage upgrade | Complete the core team first |
| Flickering Stars | Rin Tohsaka | Version 4.4 Erudition collaboration option | Evaluate after securing the Archer–Rin pair |
| I Am As You Behold | Gilgamesh | Energy, Ultimate damage and team CRIT support | Strong after the Saber–Gilgamesh engine exists |
Equip a Light Cone because its passive matches the wearer’s Path, damage tag and rotation—not because the artwork belongs to a FuA character.

⚠️ Common HSR Follow-Up Attack Team Mistakes
1. Treating Topaz as the Only Premium Feixiao Partner
Topaz remains good, but Ashveil is now the stronger modern synergy for Feixiao. Existing Topaz owners can keep the classic team; new builders should compare current options.
2. Pulling a Luxury Partner Before the Team Has Sustain or Support
A sub-DPS does not fix a dead team, an empty SP pool or missing buffs. Finish the four functional roles first.
3. Using Robin’s Ultimate Before the Team Acts
Whenever the fight allows it, let allies take their normal turns first, then use the full-party advance to create another sequence.
4. Ignoring Target Switching
Topaz, Moze and Ashveil care about priority targets. A mark on a weak enemy that immediately dies wastes setup and triggers.
5. Treating Every Extra Attack as Follow-Up Damage
Additional DMG, Elation DMG, support attacks, summons and Joint Follow-Up ATKs use different labels. Verify the live tag.
6. Copying a Feixiao Rotation into Archer–Rin
Archer’s team is governed by SP ceiling, SP restoration and Rin’s refresh timing, not Flying Aureus generation.
7. Copying a Generic Energy Rotation into Saber–Gilgamesh
Saber can waste stored Energy or action advance when support Ultimates are used at the wrong time.
8. Overusing the Sustain Skill
A defensive refresh that prevents the main carry from using Skill can cost more damage than it saves.
9. Building Two DPS Characters Before the Rotation Works
Set Speed, Energy and SP flow first. Improve the second damage dealer’s relic score afterward.
10. Forcing Single-Target FuA into Pure Fiction
Feixiao can clear with investment, but Himeko, Herta and Jade generally convert actions into more total targets hit.
11. Copying Speed Numbers Without the Same Team
Action advance, external Speed and pair mechanics change every breakpoint.
12. Overinvesting in Signatures and Eidolons Too Early
E0 characters with a complete engine normally provide more account value than one E0S1 or E2 carry surrounded by missing roles.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best HSR follow-up attack team in Version 4.4?
The strongest current traditional premium team is Feixiao, Ashveil, Robin and Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae. Archer–Rin and Saber–Gilgamesh are separate top-tier Joint Follow-Up engines with pair-specific rotations.
Is Feixiao still good without Ashveil?
Yes. Topaz, March 7th (The Hunt), Moze and Cipher can all fill the partner slot. March is the best free-value option, while Topaz keeps the classic premium identity.
Is Topaz still worth using in 2026?
Yes, especially for accounts that already own Topaz and Aventurine. She is no longer the only or automatically highest-priority premium Feixiao partner, but her target amplification and Numby actions remain strong.
Is Robin required for a follow-up team?
No. Tribbie, Sunday, Bronya, Ruan Mei and other amplifiers can work. Robin remains especially valuable in classic high-frequency dual-DPS FuA teams because she buffs both damage dealers and advances the full party.
What is the best F2P follow-up attack team?
March 7th (The Hunt), Moze, Pela or Asta, and Gallagher is the most accessible purpose-built team. Players who own Feixiao should move March or Moze into the sub-DPS slot.
Is Aventurine still the best FuA sustain?
He remains an excellent premium comfort sustain. Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae is the stronger modern offensive option for several ATK-scaling FuA teams, while Gallagher and Huohuo remain practical alternatives.
Are Archer and Rin a normal Feixiao-style FuA team?
No. Their Joint Follow-Up engine is built around Skill Point consumption, restoration and pair-specific Speed timing.
Are Saber and Gilgamesh a normal follow-up team?
Their Joint attack is a Follow-Up ATK, but the complete team is primarily an Energy and Ultimate engine. The pair should be piloted around Saber’s Energy and action-advance windows.
Are Elation teams the same as FuA teams?
No. Elation DMG is a separate system. Only an ability explicitly tagged as Follow-Up ATK or Joint Follow-Up ATK should be assumed to receive FuA bonuses.
Which follow-up team is best for Pure Fiction?
Jade with Herta or Himeko is the premium route, while Himeko plus Herta is the easiest lower-cost chain. Archer–Rin can also perform well when the Joint Follow-Up consistently clears multiple targets.
Should I pull Ashveil, Robin or a sustain first for Feixiao?
Fix the largest bottleneck. Robin is usually the broadest teamwide upgrade, Ashveil raises the modern damage ceiling, and Permansor Terrae or Aventurine should come first when survival or Skill Point economy is failing.
Do follow-up teams need 134 Speed?
Not universally. Speed depends on the character, mode, action advance, external buffs and pair mechanics. A breakpoint only matters when it creates an extra useful action.
